New iPhone 14 Pro: what do we already know about it ?

Not surprisingly, Apple plans to present a new generation of iPhone for the September 2022 keynote. It’s a way to reassure investors and brighten up the brand’s annual grand finale. This year, however, the Californian giant is expected to make a big impact after a disappointing iPhone 13.

So we’ll have to make a mark with the new features of the iPhone 14.

What’s new with the iPhone 14 Pro ?

The new iPhone 14 Pro Will stand out above all by the redesign, according to the majority of leaks that appeared in 2022. Indeed, Apple plans to abandon the notch that appeared on the iPhone X. A hole on the screen will host the TrueDepth sensors of the Face ID function. From now on, the notch will be replaced by an elongated pill-shaped shadow area above the screen.

The design would be reserved for Pro models for now. That said, this change will not affect the iPhone 14 Pro cases. The iPhone 14 and the 14 Max version should, however, inherit the notch of the previous generation. As a reminder, the iPhone range now includes standard, Max, Pro and Pro Max versions.

This year marks the disappearance of the iPhone Mini.

With the new design, the brand could relocate the orange and green lights of the device to the double hole. These lights indicate the use of the camera and microphone by an iOS app. However, this change might go unnoticed in front of the always-on screen of the new iPhone range.

The latest iOS 16 update has confirmed the arrival of this functionality at Apple.

The option is possible thanks to the LTPO (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide). This new technology allows you to adjust the refresh rate according to your needs (stopwatch, texts, videos, games…). On the iPhone 13 Pro, the display frequency could already vary between 24 and 120 Hz.

It could be further reduced and maintained at 1 Hz with the always-on function of the latest generation of screens.

What is its price ?

The new iPhone 14 Pro will inevitably be impacted by the generalized price increase of Apple’s smartphones. According to analysts, prices should increase by nearly 15% for the entire Pro segment. The trend is expected in the U.S. market and will necessarily be reflected around the world.

The iPhone price list could then vary between 799 dollars and 1,199 dollars, depending on the indiscretions.

In this context, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to start at $1,099. As for the Max version, it could cost more than $1,199. Thus, the new crop could break records in terms of price, if the rumors are confirmed.

At $899, the iPhone 14 Max would be the cheapest large-format model since the segment emerged. The iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, is likely to be astronomically priced by opting for a 1TB memory.

Indeed, the iPhone 14 Pro should be offered in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB versions. Prices will logically vary depending on the storage. The price increase is, after all, inevitable due to the introduction of the new design and the increase in production costs. Besides inflation, the phenomenon is aggravated by the shortage of electronic components and the impact of the energy crisis.

Projections may therefore underestimate the increases.

A release date already planned ?

The new iPhone 14 Pro is supposed to be unveiled at the keynote on September 7, 2022. This is a real tradition established by Steve Jobs. These annual conferences have even been nicknamed jobsnote because of the showmanship of the iconic Apple executive.

Thus, the new products are presented at this event for fans of the brand.

On the other hand, software innovations are usually launched at the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). The event is organized in spring and targets the developer community. In 2022, the conference took place from June 6 to 10.

In particular, it allowed us to discover the updates on iOS, watchOS, macOS and the Apple ecosystem in general.

A release date already planned?

Anyway, the Cupertino giant usually launches its new products during the week following its various conferences. The iPhone 14s should therefore be marketed from September 16th. This estimate takes into account the pre-order period of about ten days after the keynote.

That said, Apple may also change its strategy at this conference held on a Wednesday (instead of Tuesday).
